“New North End Democrats have endorsed Ali Dieng, a West African immigrant and Burlington school outreach coordinator, as their candidate for a soon-to-be empty seat on the Burlington City Council.

Ward 7’s outgoing councilor, Democrat Tom Ayres, is stepping down from the council in June because of a new job in Randolph.

“My deepest gratitude to my neighbors and friends who joined me tonight at the Democratic Caucus and voted for me as your candidate for Ward 7 City Council. Thank you! I am honored to have been chosen to represent our community and am committed to representing everyone in our ward. This is just the beginning. Now we must pull together and build a strong coalition towards the June 27th special election! Here we go, and again, THANK YOU so much!” – Ali
